How to Store or Preserve Asparagus

Asparagus is very perishable. Ideally this vegetable is best prepared on the day of purchase. However if you want to store it, Fresh asparagus will last about 3 to 4 days while blanched asparagus can last for a months in the freezer.
The best option is, not to wash it before storing; as washing can result in to deterioration of the tips. Treat asparagus spears as cut flowers stand them upright in a container with 1cm cold water. You may even wrap the stalks in a damp cloth and place in a plastic bag that is not airtight. Airtight bags will trap moisture, causing the asparagus to become soggy.
